Über Rollevolution
In Zeiten wachsenden Umwelt- und Gesundheitsbewußtseins ist das Fahrrad ein wichtiges Fortbewegungsmittel und wird in Zukunft noch mehr an Bedeutung gewinnen. Rollevolution stellt nicht nur Zukunftsentwürfe und Innovationen vor, sondern ist auch eine Sammlung von Transportgeräten, die das Fahrrad manchmal nur als Grundlage für einen ganz neuen Entwurf ansehen. Dem entspricht die Idee der Human Powered Vehicles (HPV), die seit Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts verfolgt wurde: nur durch Muskelkraft angetriebene Fortbewegung an Land, auf dem Wasser und in der Luft.
Als rein privates Projekt möchte ich mit dieser Webseite dazu beitragen, dass angesichts diverser Funsport- und Fitnesstrends auch Spezialräder bekannter werden und mehr Anhänger finden. Seit über 10 Jahren interessiere ich mich für Spezialräder. Anfangs war es der alljährliche Besuch der Abteilung für Erfinder und ausgefallene Fahrradinnovationen bei der Kölner IFMA, später kam das Internet hinzu. Aus Begeisterung bin ich auch schon mal quer durch Deutschland gefahren, nur um ein ganz spezielles Rad zum Kauf anzusehen. Seit 30 Jahren fahre ich Liegerad (Flevobike) und seit 15 Jahren Tretroller (Kickbike), Stehrad (3G Stepperbike) und ein Ruderrad (Rowbike). Meine letzte Entdeckung waren Longboards und das Land Paddling.
About Rollevolution
In times of growing environmental and health awareness the bicycle is an important means of transportation and in future will even gain increasing significance. Rollevolution not only presents future concepts and innovations, but is also a collection of transport devices, which sometimes look at the bicycle only as the basis for a completely new idea. This corresponds to the concept of Human Powered Vehicles (HPV) projected since mid 20th century: locomotion on land, water and in the air only powered by muscular strength.
Considering various fun sports and fitness trends I want to contribute with this website, which is only a private project, so that special bikes get more well-known and find more followers. Since more than 10 years I am interested in special bikes. In the beginning there was the yearly visit of the section for inventors and bicycle innovations at the IFMA Cologne, later it was the Internet. Out of enthusiasm I sometimes drove straight through Germany to look at a really special bike to purchase. For 30 years I ride a recumbent (Flevobike) and for some years footbike (Kickbike), rowingbike (Rowbike) and a stand-up bike (3G Stepperbike). My latest discovery were longboards and Land Paddling.

Die Fotoquellen werden in PINTEREST genannt, wo man online eigene Sammlungen mit Bildern aus dem Internet anlegen kann. Rollevolution hat dort die Bilder gesammelt, die in den Linklisten am rechten Rand zu sehen sind (als "Widget" von Pinterest).
Wenn Sie auf ein Foto klicken, gelangen Sie zu Pinterest und dem Namen des Fotos sowie ähnlichen Rädern. Mit einem Klick ganz oben auf "Stefan Meier" können sie alle Fotos von Rollevolution sehen. Und der Klick unten auf "Pinterest" zeigt die spezielle Bildersammlung.
Ebenfalls aus meinen Pinterest-Sammlungen stammen die Abbildungen der Fotogalerien auf den Startseiten der Rubriken (Spezialräder usw.).

The photo sources are given in PINTEREST, where you can create your own collections with images from the internet.
There Rollevolution has collected the images which you can see on the right side of the link lists (as a "widget" by Pinterest).
If you click on a photo you go to Pinterest and see the name of the foto and similar bikes. Clicking on top "Stefan Meier" you can see all photos by Rollevolution. And a click at the bottom on "Pinterest" shows the relevant photo collection.
Also from my Pinterest collections are taken the pictures of the photo galleries on the starting page of the sections (special bikes etc.).

Rollevolution bei der SPEZI 2013
Jedes Jahr stellt die Spezialradmesse (siehe "Special > Weiterführende Infos > Messen") unter dem Motto SPEZI SPEZIAL kostenlos einen Messestand zur Verfügung. Dank der Einladung von Hardy Siebecke, Veranstalter der Spezialradmesse, konnte sich Rollevolution 2013 so auf der weltgrößten Messe für Spezialräder vorstellen.
Ein paar Schautafeln und Diashows informierten über die Seiten von Rollevolution. Ich hoffe dass jeder, der danach in den Internetseiten stöberte, die Räder und Inspirationen gefunden hat, nach denen er suchte! Und sehr viel Dank an Hardy Siebecke, dass er hierzu die Gelegenheit gab.
Am ersten Messetag war die deutsche Longboardzeitung 40inch (diesmal auf meine Einladung) als Aussteller mit dabei und hatte gleich einige Longboards mitgebracht. Für die Spezi ein echtes "Special" und für manche eine Erinnerung an vergangene Skateboardzeiten. Longboards finden momentan immer mehr begeisterte Anhänger und sind als Sport und Alltagsgefährt gleichermaßen geeignet.
Wer sich für Spezialräder interessiert, sollte auf jeden Fall öfters die Spezi besuchen. Neben der Ausstellung zahlreicher Neuheiten und aktueller Modelle kann man nur hier so viele unterschiedliche Räder Probe fahren. Und schon allein die entspannte, familienfreundliche Atmosphäre ist den Besuch wert – eine echte Erlebnis- und Mitmachmesse alljährlich im Frühling. Für Kinder ist bestens gesorgt (eigener Testparcours, Spielwiese, Hüpfburg, Krabbelecke) und einige verlockende Imbissstände finden viele Abnehmer.
Ein üppiger Ausstellungskatalog (zusammen mit der Eintrittskarte) gibt viele nützliche Infos und zeigt schöne Fotos, Preise winken bei einer Verlosung und einem Fotowettbewerb. Besondere Events (z.B. Rennen) und interessante Vorträge füllen die Messetage zusätzlich aus.

Rollevolution at the SPEZI 2013
Each year the Special Bikes Show (see "Special > further informations > fairs") provides a free booth under the heading SPEZI SPECIAL. Thanks to an invitation by Hardy Siebecke, organizer of the Special Bikes Show, Rollevolution thus could make a presentation at the world's largest trade fair for special bikes in 2013.
A small exhibition and slideshows provided information on the pages of Rollevolution. I hope that afterwards browsing the webpages everyone has found the bikes and inspiration which he was looking for! And many thanks to Hardy Siebecke that he has offered this opportunity.
On the first day of the fair the German Longboard Magazine 40inch (this time at my invitation) joined the exhibition and brought along a few longboards. For the Spezi a real "special" and for some a reminder of past skateboard times. Longboards become more and more popular and are suitable for sport and everyday rides alike.
Who is interested in special bikes should definitely on occasion visit the Special Bikes Show. Besides the exhibition of numerous new and current models, only here you can go for a test ride of so many different bikes. And only for the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere it is worth a visit – a real hands-on and experience trade fair annually in spring.The fair is well catered for children (own test track, play area, bouncy castle, baby corner), some tempting food stalls find many takers.
A lush exhibition catalog (along with the ticket) gives many useful informations and shows beautiful photos, attractive prizes beckon in a raffle and a photo contest. Special events (eg, races) and interesting lectures furthermore fill the days of the show.

Eine ultrakurze Geschichte des Fahrrads
An ultrashort history of the bicycle
Die Geburtsstunde des Fahrrads – das Laufrad von Karl Drais (1817) – geht auf eine weltweite Klimakatastrophe zurück, als 1816 ein Vulkan-ausbruch Missernten in Europa und Futtermangel für Pferde verursachte.
Eine Reihe von alternativen Konstruktionen führte daraufhin zum heutigen Fahrrad. Denn auch dieses war einmal eine Alternative – zum Hochrad, das 1860 bis 1890 das Radfahren zuerst im wohlhabenden Bürgertum populär machte. Das danach entwickelte "Sicherheits-niederrad" eröffnete den Weg für alle folgenden technischen Neuerungen.
Eine logische Weiterentwicklung des Sicherheitsniederrades ist das Liegerad, das den Schwerpunkt noch niedriger legt und zu weiteren Vorteilen führt.

Further alternative constructions then led to today's bicycle. Forthis was once also an alternative – to high-wheelers, which from 1860 to 1890 made cycling popular to the prosperous bourgeoisie. The following safety-bike opened the way for all further technical innovations.
A logical advancement of the safety-bike is the recumbent, which lays the centre of gravity even lower and leads to more advantages.

Internet Browser bieten die Möglichkeit auf einer einzelnen Seite ein Wort zu suchen. Dies ist manchmal nicht bekannt, daher mein Hinweis. Um in einer einzelnen Seite von Rollevolution zu suchen, drücken sie dort die Tastenkombination Strg + F. Es erscheint ein Eingabefeld. Nach der Eingabe wird das Wort im Text hervorgehoben.
Geben Sie Ihr Suchwort in dem Suchfeld ganz oben ein und klicken Sie eine der gezeigten Rollevolution-Seiten an. Anschließend finden sie dort das Stichwort schnell mit der oben beschriebenen Browsersuche (Tipp: den Begriff kopieren und dann ins Suchfeld einfügen).

Search
Internet browsers offer the possibility to search a word on a single page. This is sometimes not known, hence my reference. To search on a single page of Rollevolution go to the page and then press the key combination Strg + F. An input field appears. After the entry the word is highlighted in the text.
Enter your search term in the search field at the top and click on one of the Rollevolution pages shown. Then you will find the keyword quickly with the browser search as described above (tip: copy the keyword and then paste into the search field).
Besides another useful tip: pressing the keys "POS 1" and "end" you go quickly to the beginning/end of a page.
